I donated my kidney to my seriously ill husband, and the next day his mistress showed up at the hospital and said, “Now we can finally be together without you” — but what I did next made them both scream.

PART 1

Mark and I had been married for fifteen years. We had two children, and I genuinely believed we were happy together.

Then Mark’s kidneys started failing.

His condition kept getting worse despite treatment, and eventually the doctors told us he needed a transplant.

I was terrified of losing him because I truly loved him.

So when I found out I could be a donor, I volunteered immediately.

The transplant went well.

I woke up with a headache and felt exhausted, but all I cared about was whether Mark was stable and whether his new kidney was working.

We were in separate hospital rooms, so I carefully got up and walked to Mark’s room.

When I walked in, my jaw nearly hit the floor.

Right there on Mark’s bed, a beautiful, slim woman was hugging and kissing him.

I barely had the strength to do anything, but I was so angry that I shouted:

“What the hell is going on here?”

The woman looked at me, smiled, and said:

“Oh, I guess everything is finally out in the open. Mark and I have been together for six months. We were just waiting for you to give him the kidney. Now we can finally be together without you!”

And Mark?

He just shrugged and smiled. Then he added:

“Honey, please, just don’t make a scene! I haven’t been happy with you for a long time. Samantha brought me back to life, and now we’re going to be together.”

I swear I felt the ground disappear beneath my feet.

I was so stunned that I simply turned around and went back to my room.

I kept trying to process everything.

So he’d been cheating on me for months, and when he found out how sick he was, he simply used me for my kidney?

I wanted to scream, but I held it in.

He wasn’t going to get away with this.

So I came up with something.

I asked my mom to bring me something I’d been keeping in the basement for a long time.

I packed it into a beautiful box and even hired a courier to deliver it to Mark while his mistress was in his room.

The moment the courier walked out of the room, Mark started screaming, and his mistress ran out into the hallway yelling:

“Oh my God! No!”

PART 2

The high-pitched screech echoed through the sterile hospital corridor like a siren. Heads turned, nurses froze at their stations, and two security guards immediately broke into a brisk walk toward Mark’s room.

I sat comfortably on the edge of my bed, wearing my cozy silk robe over my hospital gown, taking a slow, deliberate sip of green tea. Through the open door, I watched the chaotic fallout unfold.

Samantha stumbled out of Mark’s room first, her hands pressed over her mouth, her face drained of all color. Her designer heels clicked erratically against the polished tile floor as she backed away from the doorway as if a demon had just been unleashed inside.

“Oh my God! No! Get it away! Put it back!” she screamed, her voice cracking with hysteria.

From inside the room, Mark’s roars of terror were even louder. “Help! Nurse! Security! She’s crazy! She’s trying to kill me!”

A crowd of hospital staff surged past my doorway, rushing into his room to see what kind of horrific biohazard or weapon had been delivered to the post-op transplant patient. I casually stood up, holding my IV pole with one hand and my warm tea with the other, and strolled over to join the gathering gallery.

When the head nurse rushed inside, she stopped dead in her tracks, blinking in complete confusion.

Sitting smack in the middle of Mark’s pristine white medical tray—right beside his untouched hospital lunch—was an elegant, gold-embossed ribbon-wrapped box. The lid had been removed.

Inside, lying against a bed of blue velvet, was a heavy, gleaming set of brass keys, a stack of heavily annotated financial documents, and a brightly colored, anatomically accurate plastic model of a human kidney—accompanied by a printed, laminated legal notice stamped in big, red capital letters:

NOTICE OF REVOCATION & INTENT TO SUE FOR FRAUDULENT CONVEYANCE AND EXTRACTION OF HUMAN TISSUE UNDER FALSE PRETENSES.
