She thought I would cook for her wedding without being paid, but the moment I removed the food, my sister realized her perfect day was about to fall apart…

Twenty minutes later, my phone exploded with calls and messages.
But the first call wasn’t from Brielle.
It was from the venue manager.
“Maya,” he said carefully, “your sister is telling everyone you stole the wedding food. Should I release the security footage?”
I pulled into a parking lot across the street and left the engine running.
“Release it.”
He hesitated.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
Five minutes later, my sister’s perfect wedding began unraveling on a projector screen inside the reception hall.
The footage showed me arriving before dawn.
It showed six coolers labeled with my catering company’s name.
It showed Brielle’s fiancé, Carter, asking my father:
“Did you pay her?”
And Dad replying:
“No. She’ll fold once the guests arrive.”
Then came the part Brielle probably wished had never been recorded.
She was standing near the kitchen doors, laughing.
“Maya is desperate for family approval. She’ll never risk looking selfish.”
According to the venue manager, the entire room went silent.
Then Carter called me.
His voice was low.
“Maya, did Brielle really not pay you?”
“No.”
“She told me you offered the catering as a wedding gift.”
“She lied.”
He exhaled slowly.
“How much is the invoice?”
“Twenty-seven thousand dollars.”
Silence.
Then, in the background, I heard Brielle crying.
“Carter, don’t listen to her! She’s ruining my wedding.”
He answered:
“You ruined it when you built it on theft.”
That was when Mom grabbed the phone.
“Maya, bring the food back right now. We’ll discuss the money afterward.”
“No. You had six weeks to discuss the money.”
Dad came on next, furious.
“You are humiliating this family.”
I glanced at the invoice sitting on my passenger seat.
“You did that yourselves on camera.”
Then my second phone buzzed.
A message from Carter’s mother.
Please send me the invoice. I need to know what else they lied about.
So I sent it.
Along with the signed order form.
And one screenshot of a message Brielle had sent weeks earlier:
Don’t worry, my parents will make Maya do it even if we don’t pay.
Less than a minute later, Carter’s mother replied:
Stay where you are. We’re coming to you.
